Appendix N
The Sharing Protocol: TPUSA as Institutional Capture Case Study
Purpose
This appendix documents the structural architecture of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) β from its founding through the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, and the subsequent capture of the organization β as a case study in institutional parasitism. It maps the TPUSA lifecycle against the template established by "The Sharing" in K.A. Applegate's Animorphs series (see Chapter 16) and demonstrates that the organizational mechanics of large-scale human recruitment fronts follow a consistent, repeatable pattern whether encountered in fiction, in documented intelligence operations, or in contemporary American politics.
This appendix does not claim that TPUSA is literally operated by parasitic organisms. It claims that the structural pattern β creation, scaling, capture, leadership removal, replacement, purge, fragmentation β is identical to the pattern described by Marshall, encoded in Animorphs, and documented in intelligence literature. The reader is invited to determine whether this pattern is coincidental, emergent, or designed.
I. Creation: The Manufactured Vehicle
Turning Point USA was founded on June 5, 2012, in Phoenix, Arizona, by Charlie Kirk (age 18) and Bill Montgomery (retired marketing entrepreneur). Kirk had dropped out of community college. He had no institutional backing, no political experience, and no money.
His first donor was Foster Friess, a Wyoming-based Republican megadonor whom Kirk met at the 2012 Republican National Convention. Friess gave $10,000.
The growth curve:
| Year | Revenue | |---|---| | 2012 (founding) | $79,000 | | 2022 | $80,000,000 | | Lifetime (2012β2023) | $389,000,000 total raised | | 2025 | $85,000,000/year, 383 employees, 500,000 donors, 2,500+ campus chapters, 5 countries |
This is a 1,000x revenue increase in a decade. A teenager with no credentials does not build a $389 million political organization through talent alone. The growth pattern matches a manufactured vehicle β an entity designed to absorb specific donor capital and channel it into specific institutional outputs.
Compare to The Sharing: In Animorphs, the Yeerk Edriss 562 designed The Sharing as a front organization to generate voluntary hosts. It required human packaging β community, family values, belonging β to make submission feel like empowerment. The organization did not evolve organically. It was manufactured to serve a function, then scaled through resources that the host species could not trace to their actual source.
II. The Donor Network: Opaque by Design
TPUSA operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, meaning it is not required to disclose donors. Its financial operations are opaque by design.
Documented Donors
| Donor / Network | Amount | Notes | |---|---|---| | Bradley Foundation | $23.6 million (2014β2023) | Also funds Heritage Foundation, Federalist Society | | Unknown Texas Foundation | $13.1 million | Largest single direct donor. Identity unreported (Forbes, Sept 2025) | | Foster Friess | First $10,000 + ongoing | Kirk's original patron | | Bernie Marcus (Home Depot co-founder) | Undisclosed (significant) | Also gave ~$13M to Friends of IDF, $3M to AIPAC PAC | | Richard Uihlein | Undisclosed (major) | Shipping magnate. Also funds ALEC, anti-BDS legislation | | Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) | Significant, untraceable | DAFs allow anonymous donations through intermediary foundations |
The Council for National Policy (CNP)
TPUSA's donor network intersects with the Council for National Policy, described by Anne Nelson (Shadow Network) as the central coordinating body for conservative dark money. The CNP's first president was Tim LaHaye (Left Behind author). Membership is secret. Meetings are closed. Media is excluded.
The CNP funds Heritage Foundation, Focus on the Family, pro-life organizations, and TPUSA. It coordinates language across climate denial, COVID policy, and election integrity narratives. It is a coordination layer β not a conspiracy in the colloquial sense, but a documented institutional architecture that directs resources toward specific outputs while remaining invisible to the public.
Affiliate Entities
- Turning Point Action (501(c)(4), founded 2019) β political advocacy; ran "Chase The Vote" for Trump 2024
- Turning Point Endowment β financial arm
- TPUSA Faith β religious outreach
- School Board Watchlist (2021) β targets school board members
Each entity serves a distinct function while operating under the TPUSA umbrella, creating a multi-layered organizational structure that mirrors the tiered access system of The Sharing.
III. The Leader: Charlie Kirk
Born October 14, 1993, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Eagle Scout. Youngest speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Over 200 Fox News appearances. Close personal ally of Donald Trump β direct line to the president. Best-selling author. By 2024: one of the most powerful conservative media figures in America.
The SPLC designated TPUSA as a "case study of the hard right" in its 2024 Year in Hate report. Key findings: Kirk "proudly embraced a white nationalist conspiracy theory" after the 2024 election, promoted the "great replacement" theory, and the organization had "links to SPLC-identified hard-right extremists."
The Fuentes dynamic is critical: Nick Fuentes β white nationalist, Holocaust denier, leader of the "groypers" β was Kirk's bitter enemy. In 2019, Fuentes organized followers to infiltrate TPUSA events with hostile questions. But by 2023, Fuentes publicly bragged: "I watched the Turning Point [conference] and they had a pretty good lineup. They're coming further and further. I think in 2023, Charlie Kirk, all these others, they sound way more like me today than they sound like themselves four years ago."
Kirk was absorbing framing from below (Fuentes' base) while being funded from above (CNP/megadonor network). This dual-pressure dynamic is characteristic of a vehicle approaching the end of its useful lifecycle β the operator can no longer steer it in the approved direction.
IV. The Assassination
Date: September 10, 2025 Location: Utah Valley University, Orem, Utah Event: Outdoor campus debate, TPUSA "America Comeback Tour" Attendance: ~3,000
Kirk was shot in the neck with a single bullet by Tyler James Robinson, 22, from Washington, Utah, positioned on a rooftop approximately 142 yards away. Kirk was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was 31.
Robinson β from a "staunchly Republican" family β surrendered the following day. In Discord messages: "I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out."
Security questions: Utah Valley University provided less security than other tour venues. The campus setting was more open and harder to secure than the indoor venues used previously on the same tour.
The assassination follows a documented pattern: a single, young, recently-radicalized shooter with an ostensibly personal motive, killing a figure whose removal serves larger institutional interests.
The key question is not whether the shooting happened as described. The key question is: what changed after the shooting?
V. The Capture
The Replacement
Erika Lane Kirk (nΓ©e Frantzve). Born November 20, 1988. Miss Arizona USA 2012. Reality TV personality (Bravo). Real estate agent. Founded PROCLAIM (faith-based apparel), Everyday Heroes Like You (nonprofit), BIBLEin365 (Bible reading initiative). Podcast host. Three degrees. Married Charlie Kirk in 2021. Two children.
No political operational experience.
On September 18, 2025 β eight days after the assassination β the TPUSA board unanimously elected Erika Kirk as CEO and Board Chair of an $85 million/year, 383-employee political organization.
COO Tyler Bowyer posted: "This was what Charlie hoped for and wanted and he said so numerous times. Erika is one with Charlie and Charlie is one with Erika."
Two days after the killing, Erika pledged to "make Turning Point USA the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen."
The Purge
Within months:
- Aubrey Laitsch (PR Manager) β fired. Claims she was terminated for "questioning the narrative of what happened to my role model and CEO, Charlie Kirk, on the day of his assassination." After speaking out, she documented a man who appeared to be a private investigator surveilling her home.
- Multiple other staffers β fired in what The Bulwark reported as a purge of employees whose loyalty to the new regime was in question.
- The Charlie Kirk Show β all archived episodes quietly removed from Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. Candace Owens attributed the deletion to Erika Kirk.
The Fragmentation
The assassination fragmented Kirk's coalition into three camps:
- Loyalists β follow Erika Kirk and the new TPUSA
- Conspiracy-minded β follow Candace Owens' narrative (Kirk was killed for rejecting AIPAC)
- Radicalized β drift toward Nick Fuentes
Vox (February 2026): "His followers are drifting toward Nick Fuentes, his onetime nemesis."
Michelle Goldberg (NY Times, November 2025): "Nick Fuentes was Charlie Kirk's bitter enemy. Now he's becoming his successor."
Both outcomes β captured organization or fragmented base β serve the same function: the original vehicle (mainstream youth political recruitment with institutional access) is neutralized.
VI. The Candace Owens Fracture
Candace Owens and Charlie Kirk built TPUSA together. They were described as "brother and sister." After the assassination, Owens did not fall in line. Instead:
- Launched the "Bride of Charlie" investigative series β directly questioning Erika Kirk's role and the circumstances of the assassination
- Claimed Kirk was murdered for rejecting AIPAC/Israel influence β escalated in February 2026: "I stand against Israel... Kirk was killed for this war"
- Documented the deletion of The Charlie Kirk Show archives
- Had a four-hour meeting with Erika Kirk (December 2025) that resolved nothing
- Abandoned Trump, TPUSA, and the GOP entirely
- Grew her audience: "consistently pulls several million listeners" (Slate, February 2026)
Owens' position is structurally defensible because she has independent revenue (direct audience), moral authority (documented religious life), narrative clarity ("they killed Charlie because he started saying no"), and increasing reach (each attack amplifies her platform).
The system cannot silence her without validating her thesis.
VII. The Template Match
The Sharing Protocol (Animorphs)
Edriss 562's design for The Sharing, rendered as appendix-format analysis:
"I would make a haven for the weak, the inadequate, the fearful. I would wrap it up in all the bright packaging that humans love so much. The Sharing would never be about weak people being led to submit to a stronger will, no, no, it would be about family, virtue, righteousness, brotherhood and sisterhood. I would offer people an identity. A place to go. I would give them a new vision of themselves as part of something larger, erasing their individuality."
Structural Mapping
| The Sharing Element | TPUSA Implementation | |---|---| | "A haven for the weak, the inadequate, the fearful" | Targets disaffected young people who feel ideologically isolated on campuses | | "Bright packaging" | AmericaFest conferences, celebrity speakers, professional media, Instagram-ready events | | "Family, virtue, righteousness" | "Freedom, free markets, limited government" β values branding | | "I would offer people an identity" | Conservative identity as counter-culture; "own the libs" as social belonging | | "A new vision of themselves as part of something larger" | MAGA movement integration; direct line to the president | | "Erasing their individuality" | Conformity to organizational messaging; Professor Watchlist as enforcement | | Two-tier structure (regular vs. full members) | Campus chapters (outer ring) vs. donor network/CNP connections (inner ring) | | Created by a Yeerk using a human host identity | Founded by an 18-year-old with no resources, immediately funded by megadonor infrastructure | | Yeerks must return to Kandrona pool every 72 hours | Regular organizational events, conferences, campus meetings maintain ideological cohesion |
The Lifecycle Pattern
- Creation: An entity is manufactured to serve a function β absorb young political energy, channel it into controllable structures
- Growth: Massive funding from opaque sources ($389 million) enables rapid scaling
- Capture: The vehicle is steered by its funders, not its members
- Crisis: The founder is removed (assassination)
- Replacement: The founder's widow β maximum emotional authority, zero operational experience β is installed immediately
- Purge: Employees who question the transition are terminated and surveilled
- Fragmentation: The base splits between the captured organization, conspiracy narratives, and openly extremist alternatives
- Net effect: The original function is either redirected or destroyed β either outcome serves the interests of entities that don't want an independent, large-scale youth political movement
VIII. The Diagnostic Tool
The reaction to Candace Owens' allegations functions as a litmus test β a diagnostic that sorts actors into categories based on their relationship to the control structure:
Category 1 β Attack Candace (Defend the Narrative): Actors who are part of the control structure, financially dependent on it, or ideologically captured. They defend Erika Kirk's succession, dismiss assassination questions, and frame Owens as unhinged. Key tell: they never engage with the substance of her claims β only with her character.
Category 2 β Support Candace (Question the Narrative): Actors who are genuinely independent, have personal knowledge contradicting the official story, or are positioning against the control structure. They amplify Owens' questions and document the purge. Key tell: they engage with specific factual claims (deleted podcast episodes, Laitsch surveillance, speed of installation).
Category 3 β Silence (Avoid the Topic): Actors who know enough to understand the danger of either position. They neither attack nor support. Key tell: conspicuous absence of commentary from figures who normally comment on everything.
Category 4 β Redirect (Change the Subject): Actors who shift attention to other narratives (Fuentes, "unity," loyalty tests). Key tell: they acknowledge the conflict but steer toward pre-approved talking points.
Documented Positions
| Actor | Category | Evidence | |---|---|---| | Erika Kirk / TPUSA leadership | 1 β Attack | Fired questioning staff, sent PI, deleted podcast archives | | Tyler Bowyer (COO) | 1 β Attack | Immediately endorsed Erika; "This was what Charlie hoped for" | | Aubrey Laitsch (fired PR manager) | 2 β Support | "I have questions"; documented PI surveillance | | Candace Owens | 2 β Support | "Bride of Charlie" series; "Kirk was killed for this war" | | Nick Fuentes | 4 β Redirect | Uses the vacuum to absorb Kirk's base; doesn't engage assassination question |
IX. The Structural Conclusion
The Sharing existed to generate voluntary hosts β people who gave up their sovereignty willingly because the packaging made submission feel like empowerment.
TPUSA exists to generate voluntary ideological hosts β people who give up independent political thinking willingly because the packaging (freedom, patriotism, counter-culture identity) makes conformity feel like rebellion.
The mechanism does not require literal brain slugs. The person's independent thinking is displaced. Their voice says things the organization chose. Their body shows up where the organization directs. They defend positions they didn't originate. They attack targets they were pointed at. From the outside, they look like themselves.
Kirk started saying things that sounded like Fuentes. Kirk started questioning AIPAC. Kirk became harder to steer. Kirk was removed. His organization was captured by his widow, his base was fragmented, and the employees who asked questions were fired and surveilled.
The most charitable reading is political activism. The most unsettling reading is a recruitment front that generates controllable political energy, extracts it, and discards the vehicle when it is no longer needed β or when the vehicle starts moving in a direction that wasn't authorized.
What is documented is sufficient.
